Located at 255 Saint-Charles Street East in Longueuil, the André-Lamarre House was built around 1740. On February 19, 1976, the Quebec Government designated the André-Lamarre House as a heritage building of historic value. This rural house was located on the Lamarre farm and marked the limit between the country and the village. Under the dashed finish, the house boasts traditional French masonry. The bell-cast roof dates back to the XIX century. |

Founded in 1971 and incorporated in 1972, the Société d'histoire de Longueuil is a non profit organization entirely dedicated to researching and promoting the history of the city of Longueuil and its vicinity. The Société d'histoire de Longueuil is also especially interested by the history of French North America. The objectives and functions of the Societé are many. The Society also promotes the history of Longueuil through various activities (conferences, guided tours, exhibits, etc.) and publications (History Notebooks, History Page, monographs, etc). The Société has set up a travelling exhibition for schools and other organizations. We hope that this web site will help you get to know us better. Our site also showcases some items from our extensive collections of photographs, postcards and antique maps from the various archives groups for which the Société acts as official depository. Finally, the Société reveals some of the discoveries made during the archeological digs conducted at Grosbois Island as well as on the grounds of the Académie Saint-Georges in Old Longueuil.
